More Flash fixes in November

adobe_flash_8s600x600_2After last week’s updates by Adobe, addressing new vulnerabilities in their Flash Player plugins, today we have another bugfix release. That’s faster than I had anticipated. Luckily I was alerted by a dutch news site so I could quickly wrap the new Flash binaries into Slackware packages for your consumption.

The plugin for the Chromium browser (chromium-pepperflash-plugin) was stamped with version number 23.0.0.207 while the plugin for Mozilla browsers (flashplayer-plugin) was upped to version 11.2.202.644 (both 64bit and 32bit).

As always, Slackware packages for these Flash plugins are available for download & install in the following locations:

Have fun with these. Better even, try to avoid sites that are still using Flash… HTML5 is the better alternative.

July ’16 security fixes for Adobe Flash

adobe_flash_8s600x600_2Due to a holiday stay in Brittany (France) last week, the monthly updates for Adobe’s Flash player plugins took a little longer to reach my Slackware repository. Read the Flash player  security update of July 12th if you want to know more about all the CVE entries the update is addressing.

Good news by the way: it is no longer required to extract the PepperFlash library from a Google Chrome RPM. Adobe hosts the PPAPI plugins on their own web server now. This has another (positive) consequence: there is a 32bit pepperflash plugin again!

The updated plugin for the Chromium browser (chromium-pepperflash-plugin) has the version number 22.0.0.209 while the plugin for Mozilla browsers (flashplayer-plugin) is now at version 11.2.202.632.

Slackware packages for these Flash plugins are available for download & install in the following locations:

If you are using the slackpkg+ extension for slackpkg, then you just run “slackpkg update && slackpkg upgrade flash”. Alternatively, you can subscribe to my repository RSS feed to stay informed of any updates.

March ’16 security fixes for Adobe Flash

adobe_flash_8s600x600_2Adobe’s Flash player  security update for March showed an updated Flash player which addresses several vulnerabilities. I packaged the Linux Flash Player plugin for you as usual – on friday. However, Google did not release an updated binary for Linux Chrome until this moment, instead having people rely on Chrome’s internal auto-update feature which takes care of downloading the latest PepperFlash library. That would leave Chromium users in the cold, so I took a different approach: I installed the latest Google Chrome in a virtual machine and started the program, then went away to do other stuff. After a while, Chrome had indeed downloaded a new version of the Flash library and put that in the ~/.config/google-chrome/PepperFlash/ directory. I have used a copy of this downloaded library to create the new chromium-pepperflash-plugin package.

The new plugin for the Chromium browser (chromium-pepperflash-plugin) has the version number 21.0.0.182. The plugin for Mozilla browsers (flashplayer-plugin) has version 11.2.202.577.

My download locations for the Flash plugin packages are as always:

If you are using the slackpkg+ extension for slackpkg, then you just run “slackpkg update && slackpkg upgrade flash”. Alternatively, you can subscribe to my repository RSS feed to stay informed of any updates.

October ’15 security fixes for Adobe Flash

adobe_flash_8s600x600_2Adobe released updated Flash player plugins yesterday, which adddress newly discovered vulnerabilities. I applied those updates to my repository and the packages are ready for you to download and install.

The updated Slackware package for chromium-pepperflash-plugin (to be used together with my chromium package) has version 19.0.0.207. The updated flashplayer-plugin has version 11.2.202.535.

The PepperFlash plugin is extracted from Google Chrome 46.0.2490.71 (first stable 46 release). The accompanying source code for Chromium has become available today, so I am going to compile that later into a chromium package for Slackware.

My download locations for the Flash plugin packages are as always:

If you are using the slackpkg+ extension for slackpkg, then you just run “slackpkg update && slackpkg update flash”. Alternatively, you can subscribe to my repository RSS feed to stay informed of any updates.
