My thoughts on Slackware, life and everything

Libreoffice 3.6.3 packages available

The LibreOfffice developers have released the next update, 3.6.3. This is again mainly a bugfix and stability update. A list with most prominent bugfixes is available too.

LibreOffice extensions are available from http://extensions.libreoffice.org/extension-center

As LibreOffice diverges more and more from OpenOffice I am not certain that the old OOo templates are still working with LibreOffice but the collection of LibreOffice-specific templates is growing steadily in the template-center . If anyone has created a professional-looking set of Slackware themed presentations or document templates, could you offer those for download? I am not an expert in these things, but it would be a nice-to-have. Not for me alone – there are probably many more people with this wish.

The LibreOffice 3.6.3 packages which I am making available have been built on Slackware 13.37. They can be installed on Slackware 14 as well. If you find any issues on Slackware 14 please tell me.

I uploaded the packages yesterday, silently, to give the mirrors a chance to update before announcing them on my blog and in the ChangeLog (tip: subscribe to the RSS feed if you want to be informed first!). Downloads are available here:

Have a good weekend and watch out for new KDE packages next week!

Eric

Something has been up with the recent builds. It’s a minor thing, but it’s annoying. I used to be able to highlight multiple files and open them in different windows. Now if I try that, it doesn’t open anything. I think that might have been introduced in 3.6.2, not sure. FWIW, I’m using Slackware64 14 with your unofficial KDE packages.

Thanks, Eric. Your hard work goes a long way to keeping me going on older hardware with the latest software (Slackware is generally more efficient somehow?).

Thanks! I will have to check out the extensions link – I’ve never done that yet. My needs are pretty simple, mostly.

    @Matt and @Willy
I don’t have the reported issue with LibreOffice 3.6.3 on Slackware 14 (32-bit version).

    Hi,

Thank you for the office suite. It works well in a 32 bit Slack 14.

    Hi Eric:
Just noticing this mirror points to libre-office 3.5.4

    http://scw.net.br/alien/slackbuilds/libreoffice/

The mirror http://scw.net.br/alien/slackbuilds/ seems outdated in general

    Best regards

    César

    Hi Cesarion76

Yah I am afraid I will have to remove that server from my mirror list. Its maintainer moved to another job position and I expected that this would eventually happen.

Thanks for mentioning, I don’t look at the mirrors often.

    Thanks for the packages.

I just tried out that bug.

The only thing that doesn’t work is the dialog box doesn’t print the file names in the “File Name” field.

The actual process of selecting the files works and when you click open they all open.

FYI For those that haven’t seen the problem, it does only affect the LibreOffice dialog so if your using the standard dialog from the DE then you wont see it.

See Willy’s link on how to switch the dialog settings around.

Thanks Eric. Upgraded three machines and all went smooth. Sporting the latest LibreOffice is always nice.

Now I just need something to write about. 🙂

When I select multiple files, they get selected properly, the names show up in the file name field, but when I click open, nothing happens. I’ll check out that bug link, but right now that site doesn’t want to load for me.

I finally got through to that link. If I go to Tools->Options->LibreOffice->General and check “Use LibreOffice dialogs” under Open/Save dialogs, then I can open multiple files at once. It must be something with their KDE integration.

Libreoffice created me a big directory structure in /root:
    /root/libreoffice
    ls something wrong?

I discovered the problem. I installed an extension with unopkg as root.
    Thanks.
