My thoughts on Slackware, life and everything

First release candidate for LibreOffice

Those developers at the Document Foundation are coding like madmen!

The first release candidate of the Libre Office suite of programs has seen the light of day. And of course I put my computer to work, and the result is a series of Slackware 13.1 packages for 32-bit and 64-bit LibreOffice, including a bunch of language packs. Please tell me if your language is missing.

Get the packages here: http://slackware.com/~alien/slackbuilds/libreoffice/ or from one of my mirrors: http://taper.alienbase.nl/mirrors/people/alien/slackbuilds/libreoffice/ and http://slackware.org.uk/people/alien/slackbuilds/libreoffice/ . Both mirrors have rsync access.

Please note:

If you want to use my libreoffice.SlackBuild to compile these packages yourself, the script will first download an additional 200 MB of external source tarballs before commencing with the compilation. I decided not to store all these sources in my own build directory, in order to minimize the load on the server.

Enjoy, Eric

    Thank you very much Eric!
    I haven’t understand if these packages include ‘language tools’.
    I’m able to set the language of the GUI, but in “Tools” > “Options” > “Language settings” > “Writing aids” there is no language available for specl check, grammar and similar.

    @david
    I reckon you should install additional language packages, whatever your mother tongue is.
    AlienBob covered language packages beautifully.

    @david

    The libreoffice language packs which I created only contain the localized menus and help system.
    If you want a dictionary and spell checker for your language, you can download one from http://extensions.services.openoffice.org/en/dictionaries and then import that in LibreOffice using the menu “Extra > Extension manager”.

    Hi, I’m trying to run the slackbuild, and wonder what I’m missing because I have this error:

    ./package-ooo: line 9: /tmp/build/tmp-libreoffice/libreoffice-build-3.3.0.1/build/libreoffice-3.3.0.1/*.[sS]et.sh: No such file or directory
    ./libreoffice.SlackBuild: line 683: cd: /tmp/build/package-libreoffice/usr/lib64/libreoffice/basis-link/share/fonts/truetype/: No such file or directory
    ./libreoffice.SlackBuild FAILED at line 688

    Thanks ahead of time.

    @Lester –

    That is not the real error. To get this message, your compilation will have failed a bit earlier on. Check the build log (assuming you logged the output to a file) for “ERROR” or “Error:”.

    Did you have all the dependencies installed? Did you install all the packages that are required for building the libreoffice package?

    Thanks alienbob. Your advice paid off, and it’s going further than before. After checking slackbuilds, I realized where I went wrong.
